How to spot fast-fashion resellers when buying secondhand

The biggest frustration when shopping secondhand online is wading through fast-fashion junk and bulk resellers to find genuine quality pieces. Here's how to spot the red flags — and how QualityFind filters most of them out for you.

Check the seller's feedback profile

A seller's feedback score and percentage tell you most of what you need to know. Genuine private sellers clearing out their wardrobe typically have modest feedback scores and very high positive percentages. Bulk resellers and dropshippers often have enormous feedback volumes paired with a slightly lower positive percentage — a sign of high-volume, lower-care selling.

As a rule of thumb, be cautious of sellers with thousands of sales listing items as 'new' — that pattern usually indicates a reseller rather than someone selling their own clothes.

Watch for blocklist keywords

Certain words in a listing title are reliable signals of low quality or bulk selling. 'Bundle', 'lot', 'wholesale', 'joblot' and 'multipack' all point to bulk resale rather than a single quality item.

  • Fast-fashion brand names mixed into quality searches (Shein, Boohoo, PLT, Missguided)
  • 'New with tags' on high-volume seller accounts — often dropshipped stock
  • Generic, keyword-stuffed titles designed to match every possible search

Inspect the photos

Genuine secondhand listings use real photos — the actual item, often on a hanger or laid flat, sometimes with visible wear. Stock photography, studio shots or images lifted from a retailer's website are a warning sign that you're looking at dropshipped or mass-resold stock.

Multiple angles, close-ups of labels and honest shots of any flaws are all signs of a careful private seller.

How QualityFind handles this for you

QualityFind applies these checks automatically. Every listing is screened against seller feedback thresholds, a keyword blocklist and a price floor before it appears. The result is a feed of genuine quality secondhand pieces, free of the dropshipper and fast-fashion noise you'd otherwise have to filter manually.
